How can I get dental treatment done in Canada as a United States citizen? I'm an Iraq war veteran and the VA is refusing to continue a routine (but expensive) dental treatment which began while in the military. I cannot afford a dental plan and I do not qualify for Medi-Cal (California's single-payer health care for the poor). I'm willing to go to Canada to get this done. Anyone have any resources on how I can get this done through Canada's Medicare?
Dental treatment? My friend has had trouble with his teeth for some time now. He cannot seem to get access to a local NHS dentist, although he is entitled. It doesn't seem fair that he would have to travel over 100 miles for basic/decent treatment, and is consequently leaving it to fate.
How does not having insurance affect getting dental treatment? I've never been to the dentist in my life. I've got a cavity I want to take care of, but I really don't know where to start. I mean, I found a dental place near home, but I just simply don't know what to ask or look for. Ex: fees, do I need to make an appointment, etc. One main thing I'm worried about is not having insurance and possibly being denied treatment.

Am I entitled to help with dental treatment costs if I have an abnormal heart valve? I have a heart condition named Epstein Anomaly which is an abnormality of the heart valve. Am I exempt from NHS charges and/or entitled to help with health costs, including NHS prescription and dental treatment.
How do you make an un cooperative child undergo dental treatment? My daughter is 4 years old and been doing teeth cleaning and check up regularly since she was one year old. She is not afraid of the dentist. Unfortunately we were not able to visit the dentist for half a year and she developed 2 big cavities on her upper back teeth that needs to be treated. She is happy going to the dentist and will sit on the dental chair on her own. She will open her mouth but wont let anything put inside it. The dentist tried to convince her for about 30 minutes- no crying , she enjoyed sitting on the dental chair, she told the dentist that she will have her teeth treated when she turned 5 yrs old- the dentist gave up and told me to make another appointment . We tried to convince her that the procedure does not hurt, the dentist will just brush out the bad cavity. Her sister- 5 yrs old- who went the same treatment even testified that the water used for gargling is grape flavor and it doesnt hurt. And I bribed her that if she will let the dentist treat her teeth- I would buy her a bike. I am thinking of holding a fake birthday party so she will be 5- then we can have her teeth treated. For the last few days , I have been talking about this teeth treatment in preparation for the next dental appointment , and she said she does not want to hear anything about it anymore. I fear that she might develop fear of the dentist so I stopped. We have the next dental appointment tomorrow. Any suggestion please?

I registerd for dental treatment through NHS direct 18 months ago to be abe to obtain dental treatment, after contacting them every 6 months i am still unable to obtain NHS dental treatment and keep getting put on a waiting list. I have paid national insurance all my lworking life, could someone please offer a solution other than removing my own teeth? Firstly let me say thankyou to those who have offered sensible answers, and i will be checking out the advice offered. As for contacting our MP i have tried to do this with no success. I have written to him a couple of times and never recieved a reply.perhaps it is because when he is in the constiuancy he seems to spend all his time in expensive eating establishments, proberbly at the taxpayers expense
Is there a way to get help paying for required dental treatment for chronic pain? I have chronic, painful dental problems. In the last 8 years alone I've had at least 50 fillings, 4 extractions, 2 caps, 8 root canals and I'm still in an immense amount of pain. I'm in severe debt because I have had to charge these treatments which have amounted to more than $20,000 in just the last 2 years alone. I have begged dentists to simply remove my teeth but almost all insisted that they could and should be "saved". I'm 27 years old and still have a lifetime of this ahead of me. ALL of my root canals are painful, after last years procedures, leaving me with a whole side of my mouth I can't use. Is it really that crazy to ask to have these teeth removed? I can't find relief-- medically and especially not financially. I can no longer afford to have anything done to my teeth and am hoping that someone can help with advice.

Would it be a good idea to alternate my dental treatment between two different dentists? I have always felt dread going to the dentist, but I am over-due for a visit.( I have alot that needs to be done). I would like to get this treatment over and done with as quickly as possible. To reduce the time between appointments with a busy dentist, I thought having two dentists treating me (alternating between visits) would get my treatment done quicker.( Perhaps one can work on my upper teeth and the other, the lower teeth).. Has anyone ever tried this before? If so, how did it work out?

The reason i ask is because I came across a website that offers holidays in which you go abroad to have dental treatment or other cosmetic work.
Is this considered preventative dental treatment? I've worn away some gum at the base of several teeth from brushing too hard; they're kind of deep so my dentist wants to fill them. He said I could have problems from the blood vessels constricting. So is this considered a preventative service? I'm asking b/c I don't have dental insurance but if I get it, preventative services don't have a waiting period. Thanks.

Why does the NHS pretend there is emergency dental treatment? our own dentist doesnt answer calls out of hours even when bound by contract. I am seeking funding for extensive dental treatment. Does anyone know of an organization that can help? I am a 41 year-old otherwise healthy female in need of urgent dental care assistance. I was recently told by my dentist that the cost of repairing my teeth would be about $47.000. This includes five implants and twenty dental units. I am a self-employed single parent. All of the dental plans I have looked into, indicate a cap of around $1000 - $1500 per year. This means that even if I were to obtain dental insurance, it would only cover about 3% of the total cost. I do not qualify for any kind of state or federal aid as I make enough money to live on. However, I cannot make enough to pay for this treatment. Before visiting my current dentist, I paid almost $30.000 to another dentist whose work was so bad almost everything he made broke within a year. I trust my current dentist's diagnosis and treatment plan. I just do not have the money to pay for it. Does anyone know of organizations or individual(s) who could help?
What happens if a root canal is left after root canal dental treatment? The dentist said he could not find the 4th root canal in my first molar, and recommends an endodontist, now the problem with this is I cannot afford to pay £500+ to see a specialist of this sort. What should I do? Is there harm in leaving the 4th root there? Not removing the root canal is like not completing the treatment properly, should I complain about this?
Anybody having dental treatment at Macclesfield hospital in January or February? I want to have an afternoon appointment rather than morning but am told that it'll have to be moved back 2 1/2 months to the beginning of April !! So I had this idea to swap with someone else in the queue rather than being put to the back of the queue. I figured there's about 60 people in Macclesfield I need to advertise to. Any ideas how I can reach these people? Macclesfield is in the UK where we have a free National Health Service but like 6 month waiting list queue. When will the online computer booking system for the NHS be available?
