How much does a normal Dental root canal & Crown installation Cost on a cash basis? I was just in to the Dentist ang got charged what I think is a really expensive cost for a Root Canal, and a Crown. I needed some feedback on what people have been paying on these procedures at the dentist. I was charged on a Cash Basis and was told that I was given a discount...I have doubts about that and whould like to compare other peoples experiences and cost.
Should I get a root canal or dental implant? I need a root canal or removal of a back molar. If I get a root canal, I'll also need a crown lengthening, and crown because I broke one of the quadrants of the tooth off up deep into the gum area. I have been advised that a dental implant would cost the same, with less risk I think because of how deeply the tooth broke down. I don't think I can wait too long to have anything done because the dentist seems to have aggravated the tooth by probing. I am getting ready to go on a 12 day vacation in mid June, so I am afraid to begin root canal therapy since I will have only a temporary cap (which they always seem to fall off) while away from home. I figure I could get the tooth pulled before I left, and get the dental implant once I got back. I have heard that root canal therapy is more successful than implants in the long run. I don't know what to do. Any advice?
Can I wait - Dental root canal temp filling broke off? Temporary filling and some dressing came off the tooth. My next appointment is Friday, 16th July - over two weeks. Is it okay to wait until that next appointment or should I annoy the dentist now? They are very busy.
Dental root canal question? I have an absess (sp?) on the gum above one of my teeth. Does this always mean a root canal is needed? I'm not asking this instead of going to the dentist - I'm trying to figure out whether I need to go to my regular dentist or the root canal dentist. I don't have dental insurance and I don't want to pay for my regular dentist visit just for him to tell me I have to go to the other dentist for a root canal. Thanks!

how to get an appointment to a dental university to get a root canal? I know the names of the 2 universities in my area that have dental areas. They are Creighton university in Omaha and The University of Nebraska in Lincoln. I have been told that if you get your dental work done at a dental school it cost less and my wife needs a root canal but we don't have the $1207 that it will cost to get it done at our faimly dental place

Short term dental insurance for root canal? Not to sound like a scammer, but my girlfriend is in a pretty bad situation. She is a graduate student, and has limited medical coverage with absolutely no dental. She had not visited a dentist in two years, and recently had a visit that resulted in a recommendation for a root canal and crown. Looking at fee structures, it would appear that the whole procedure could easily cost $1500+. As a grad student, she obviously was not prepared for this. I've looked online at "discount" plans, and see ones that (for ~$5-10/mo) give you about a 20% price break. Still not that desirable ... Is there any "easy" out in this situation? Without spending thousands of dollars? Thanks in advance!
Question about doing a dental root canal in new york city? Hi everyone, I live in NYC. One of my teeth felt very pain last week, so I want to my DDS and he told me that I need to do a root canal. But my medicaid will not be cover, so I need to pay about $1500 for this. The problem is I am a college student and I working as part time, $1500 is huge for me. So any one know where can I find a place with lower price or FREE treatment.
What is the alternative to a dental root canal? My dentist tells me that I need a root canal to my right lowerr #22 middle big tooth. I do not have any pain now but when he touches the back part of the tooth, I feel it in the nerves. I hate to remove the tooth because the space will cause the other teeth to shift which will create space in between my teeth. I had a root canal years ago and eventually had to take it out years later ( directly above this tooth) because I developed an abscess ( a bump sticking out the gum). I am 41 years old. I try to floss daily but the dentist said food got trapped in between the tooth because it shifted.Any suggestions?
Question about a root canal/dental crown? About 4 yrs. ago I had a root canal done and they placed a dental Crown or cap whatever its called over my tooth which had a big hole in it. My question is, about a year later or so I started to notice that when I would chew something on that side of my mouth, I would get this funny taste. It doesn't taste like "metal" its more like my tooth is rotted or something. Its really uncomfortable...I know I should go to the dentist but I don't have health insurance so I'm not able to but what should I do? The smell bothers me. It doesn't smell all day long it just bothers me when I chew something on that side cause I could smell it.
dental, dentist: In what cases is a pulpotomy indicated instead of a Root Canal? I have a fistula between my gum and tooth #3 due to a dental mistake. The tooth is still alive (not grey). I would like to keep it alive, even if there is a minute chance. I was reading that in children, a pulpotomy is preferred to a root canal because it keeps the nerve alive. I am very interested in a pulpotomy! I am curious as to why my dentist didn't mention this option at all (actually a dental student), and secondly when is it a viable treatment option? I am not concerned about money; I just want to keep all my teeth alive.
Dental implants/root canal treatment? A recent accident has left me needing 2 dental implants on upper teeth located near the front and 4 root canals on teeth also located in the front. I am a couple months away from getting the actual crowns put on. I also have gotten 1 of the 4 root canals done already and still need to do the other 3. I have been told that after a root canal the tooth will become brittle in time and prone to cracking and discoloration. Being a young person (19) and being that these teeth are all apart of my visible smile I have many concerns. My questions: 1. Are the dental implants going to be noticeable to people? As far as the implant crowns being located next to my regular teeth, are they going to look different under different lighting or in the dark etc. 2. What should I do to the teeth that have root canals as far as appearance and durability? (veneers, crowns, other) 3. How long will it take my teeth to discolor? 4. What would be the best solution to have a nice smile again that will not attract any attention? 5. Also please list any complications I might run into with dental implants, veneers, crowns, or whatever... I feel like I can research all day on the topic, but I would really like input from a dental surgeon, endodontist, dentist, or someone that has went through a similar experience. Thank you for your input :)
Cost of Root Canal/Dental Crown.? In the past two weeks I had to have 2 root canals done on my back teeth. One was only $190 and the other was $745...Normally they are $945 each, but my insurance covers $1000 worth of dental work each year. Now I am told I need to get them both crowned for about $800 per tooth..which I would have to pay completely out of pocket since I maxed out my dental insurance for this year. They say 8 wks is the max you can wait..but honestly, can I wait longer to crown them? $1,600 is a lot of money...I have it in savings, but we were really holding back our savings for extreme emergencies...Should I go ahead and schedule the appt and pay the $1600 or should I look for less expensive crowns elsewhere?
Dental Crown, no root canal, sore and tender? I am seeing the dentist friday and asked for a script to be phoned in today (pen vk). I had 2 crowns last yr, one following a root canal and one for a broken tooth. The one for a broken tooth did not have a root canal and was feeling funny for a few days and became tender and sore last evening. Do they just remove the crown for the root canal or is it something more involved?????
Dental Root Canal question? well for one does it hurt when they take the crown off your tooth? and 2 how bad does it hurt 1-10 i gotta get one soon lol shit
I lost a dental filling, do I need a root canal? I lost my dental filling yesterday and I looked at the tooth and the spot where the filling was looks brownish with a dark spot in it. Does that mean my tooth is completely rotted and I'll need a root canal? There is no pain with this lost feeling, I just felt like there was something sticky on my tooth and like it was pulling off.
Best Dental Insurance Plan (undergone root canal treatment, an year ago)? I am looking for a good dental insurance plan. I have undergone root canal treatment an year ago (in India). There are more chances of the CAP coming out after an year or so. Just to be on the safer side, I will go with a good dental insurance plan. Please suggest me a good one (plan/insurance/company) Thanks I am located in NewJersey
$1000.00 root canal? Dental Professionals Only Please? I went to a dentist to get 2 crowns. The dentist informed I would need a root canal. I didn't think anything of it and made the appointment. Today I was called and told that the specialist would be performing the root canal, and that it would cost A THOUSAND DOLLARS. Yes, that's right, 1k for a root canal. So I pleaded with the office, I can't afford that, can't the dentist do it and they said no. The crowns have already been ordered so I have to go back to that dentist and get them put in. The office said I could go somewhere else to do the root canal, but how can I pull that off? What dentist would be willing to do a root canal on someone else's temporary? Any suggestions? I can't afford 1000.00. Please help me. Please.
Root canal at dental school? Anyone ever get a root canal done at a dental school? Like Usc or UCLA dental schools in L.A? If so how much did they run? What were the details? So if I have NO income at all...Around what amount do you think I would have to pay?
No dental insurance and getting a root canal? i might need a root canal....i am scared because it will cost a lot and we cant really afford it. My dad says if i have one we will have to get the tooth pulled...i am 17 and very self concious of that.....is there any alternatives to pay for this?
Questions on root canal & dental crown? i have a tooth chipped off that the dentist recommend me to do a root canal treatment and put a crown on it. Is the root canal treatment painful? After that, do i definitely have to put on crown? Is it unsafe if i requested to put filling cos' fillings will wear off..? how do i take care of the crown? will it be loose if i brush my teeth slightly with force? i have a few teeth with some decaying... shld them be filled or crowning...? Is there a limit to the number of fillings done..? because i heard doing a filling, dentist will drill off the decayed part, den put the filling... when the filling wear off, are they goin to drill more den put the filling again? if this carry on, how many times can the tooth put fillings?
Is it normal to have to go for root canal dental treatment several times before getting a permanent filling? I have been to my dentist 5 times and each time its the same routine. She gives me several shots of anaesthetic, asks if my lip is numb, I say no, she carries on anyway but cant finish because I get pain when she tries to wash out a deep fork in the root. She fills it with a bromide solution and puts a temporary filling in and tells me to come back in 3 weeks. She taps the tooth - I can feel it, she says she cant finish the job as the tooth is not symptom free and it all starts again, apart from last trip where I got a surprise when she burnt my lip and face with her dental drill!! Maybe she was testing to see if my lip truly wasnt numb - and she found out! She said she had borrowed the drill and didnt know it was heating up! After the session, she said I had some dry skin on my lip and put some vaseline on!! Not the best burn treatment! I am now on vacation and I look like I have some serious Herpes infection in all my snaps - Great! Anyway, should she maybe wait a bit longer for the anaesthetic to work, try a different one, fill it with a different solution, put some local antibiotic in there, or is all this quite normal? I am seriously thinking of going to another dentist after the last treatment but wanted some advice first from you knowledgable people! This is in Norway by the way, so was expecting better dental treatment.... Thanks!
Yet another Dental Question (Root canal or not?)? I'm 40 and never had a cavity in my life. I went to a new dentist 8 mos ago and he said I had 6! Since I never have had tooth pain, I asked if it was really necessary and he said yes so I went a long with it. I've had constant pain ever since. Now, some of the fillings have caused infections and it appears I will need root canals. I don't know for sure because the last time they x-rayed me they screwed up the film (but advised root canals anyway). Anyway, the pain got really bad but then I went on antibiotics and the pain is better, I just get dizzy and disoriented a lot. Is there any way my teeth can heal on their own? Or is a root canal the only way? I'm never going back to Dr. Hacknslash, even though I know the payment on his new Porsche really needs to be paid :^/
if i get dental insurance now, how long until i can get a root canal? I need a root canal and it is gonna cost a lot, haha. If i got insurance now, how long till i can get the job done, i know there has to be stipulations for insurance or else people would do that crap all the time. Do i have to sign up for at least 5 yrs or something, i really dont know and am curious. any thoughts?
Dental question.. root canal/temp filling? I called a dentist a while back to see how much he would charge for a root canal & crown. He called back & said he would "fix" 2-3 teeth for a certain price. I had some work done on one of them before due to an abcess tooth & the dentist (different dentist) drilled away part of the tooth & put a temp filling on the side. When I went into the other dentist he did the root canal (took tons of x-rays) & put temp filling in the holes & I came back in to have another 1 done. After about finishing he said he didn't know if they would turn out & then said he wasn't a professional. I didn't know the process of a root canal & crown. He gave me a prescription and then told me that I was all fixed. Not knowing I was going to get ripped off we didn't have the money at the time to go to a better dentist to have the crowns done. Only went to him in hopes medicaid would cover it. The temp filling on one tooth started falling out & from the temp from before came out the other day. I have a large hallow space in my tooth and don't know if it can be saved. I am getting married next month and don't know if I should have a temp filling put in till after the wedding especially if it can't be saved or what to do.
dental abscess and root canal? I have a dental abscess in my front lower tooth.Today was the third root canal sitting. In the second root canal the dentist drained out and cleaned it properly but did not give any antibiotics. The abscess actually became visible from outside. Today he has cleaned it again and cleaned the roots again. However while cleaning it used to pain at times and used to be fine. SO he is thinking that there could be lateral nerves which were not identifiable in the x-ray.However he has cleaned it up real well. He has placed a medication inside the root canal and also punctured the abscess from outside to let it drain. Hopefully it will dry up now. There was no pain prior to the root canal. However today it was pretty painfull inspite the anesthesia especially when he would scrape the root. Anybody has had experience with lateral nerves????

They Told Her She Needs Dental Surgery,A Root Canal,And A Bunch Of Cavities Filled,Is She getting Ripped Off? Well My Mom Went To the Dentists On Wed... This Time She Went To A Different Dentist Which Is Unusual.. Well Anyways She Usually Goes To A Dentist Named Sandy Dental P.C. & She's been Going There Since Forever,But She Thought She Needed Surgery,So She Went To This Other One,And They Told Her That She Needs Dental Surgery,A Deep Cleaning,A Root Canal And Tons Of Cavities Filled. She Just Went To the Dentists 3 Months Before,Is It Even Possible For This To Happen? The New Place She Went To Looks Expensive,And All Of The Patients There "Needed" Very Expensive Procedures, The Receptionists Are Very Unorganized, At Sandy Dental Told Her That She Didn't Have Anything. Who Should She Believe...?

Dental malpractice with root canal and post/core? The molar in question is my 2nd molar on my upper right jaw. I had a root canal done and a metal post with core was then put inside. After the root canal and placement of the metal post, the height of my molar decreased by half. Now I am barely left with any tooth structure to attach a crown. Why did my molar shrink after these procedures? The center of the molar is now shaped in an upside down "U" when the center of my molar was previously straight across on the bottom. Was it shaped like this to decrease the biting forces to avoid the tooth from cracking? Is it common for molars to decrease in height after root canals and post/cores? Was there a logical reason why my dentist decreased the height of my molar and shaped/drilled the center in an upside down "U"?
dental question, root canal....? http://www.glamourkills.com/designs/1091/livelove.jpg according to this chart, i am asking about tooth 2 and 3 These two teeth grew in grinding against one another, wearing down the enamel. Essentially, they are very sensitive to sugar, hot & cold, and anything that penetrates the tooth. A dentist recommended to get root canals on both teeth, which i have no problem with. (With my insurance plan, as long as I can prove it is medically an issue, i am covered.) Im eery of getting caps, do they last long, especially as molars? Should I also go to an endodontist, because it will be painful being localized in one part of my mouth? Also, do any of you have any teeth whitening tricks? thanks in advance
Putting dental crown today after root canal but i still have infection? ok so i am putting my crown on one of my front upper tooth but i had a major infection after my root canal was done and it still hurts its been over a month now and it hurts a little but i am scared not to go get a crown put in becasue i dont want to feel n e pain after the anesthesia wears down. can any one give me any advice it it will hurt or not.. remember that i still have infection due to the root canal and i have preformed two root canals in the same front upper thooth but will go for my crown today and i can still feel the small bump in my front upper gum were the infection developed in the outside.. will it still hurt ?
Dental Implant vs crown & root canal treatment? The dentist told me crown maybe the way to go if I want strength for my broken teeth. Then he mentioned that because I've less teeth structure drilling, vibration may sometime cause root canal then I may need root canal treatment. And I asked him what he will know then he said there're serious of test, like cold sensitive test, and some other test that I forgot.. Is he rite and honest? Also earlier someone suggested that I check with an expert about evaulation on dental implant since it last 30+ years or a lifetime I guess? Because in each or 5 or 10 years then I will need another root canal and cap maybe. So maybe it's better to do some sophiscated way to relief worry about the future. Also the teeth which is broken has misalignment and those the rod which goes to the bone has to follow the same root direction of my teeth? Because my teeth sticks out a little and moved to the rite. Can the dentist put the rod in direction that will not misalign and same direction as other teeth?
Root canal with no dental insurance?!? ok so my parents dont have dental insurance for me...i def. dont want the tooth pulled because it is a molar and i dont want to look dumb with it gone!! im only 17! there is no chance of saving the tooth because it is so deep that my dentisted filled in because he thinks he mighht have got it in time. I was just going to ingore the pain but i cant anymore...it cant even eat on it because it is so sensitive and when i was flossing today i smelled the floss and it stunk really bad. My parents cant afford a root canal but i cant bare the thought of it being pulled! also...how much do they typically cost...we dont live near a dental school so we couldnt ge tit cheaper or what not also are there payment plans like every month no matter what dentist you go to?
dental hygiene with sensitive tooth after root canal? I had a root canal and a crown 2 days ago (monday), I still feel sore and my tooth is very sensitive to touch. they scheduled a hygiene appointment for friday morning. Would it be painful to have that tooth cleaned wihtin 5 days of a root canal? I'm wondering should I reschedule my appointment or the dental hygienist can deal with that somehow in a non-painful way? thanks
What are my dental patient rights? Bad root canal...? Who pays for post-op (root canal) problems? I am uninsured, paid $2,000 for root canal and problems persist. (random bleeding at gumline of root canal tooth) Who covers costs of ongoing care? Dentist since they may have botched the procedure or patient? Do I contact the Dental Association or Lawyer or ? Thank you for your advice. This is gross, but blood is coming from between root canal tooth and next tooth. (so blood coming from between two teeth- gumline not an accurate description, sorry.) $2k was for entire procedure; op, post and ceramic crown. My main concern is to be made 'whole'. And I don't want to have to pay for additional costs due to botched procedure. I can't possibly afford that!Nor do I feel it is my responsibility. As patients, we are at the mercy of our health practioners. Without dental insurance, I can't keep paying hundreds, thousands of dollars for this root canal to be made right. (Regarding possible poor hygiene, I brush and floss daily. Practice a semi-vegitarian diet. Lots of fruit/veggies. No soda or coffee. ie; I am very healthy.) Blood did not appear until inital root canal procedure. Dr kept telling me it would subside once crown placed. Hasn't happened now two weeks after crown...?) sorry so long, but there is alot of detail to explain...and if I sound frustrated/worried, believe me, I am.
