Dental Scaling

dental scaling?

I've decided to buy my own dental scaling tools but I am not sure of if I should use this daily or weekly because I have heard it can scrap your enamel is that true or not?

  1. I would have it done professionally. Plus, if you had it done professionally, you probably wouldn't have to have it done so often -- maybe once every six months when you have your teeth cleaned.
  2. I wouldn't suggest getting the OTC scaling instruments... Using them could do you more harm than good. The only way to have a complete and thorough scaling is to have it done by a professional. While it won't scrape off your enamel, you could inadvertantly deepen the sulcus if you 'dig' too deep... Nope, not a good idea. :)
  3. I've had it done professionally and never again. Not saying I would do the OTC either, but it wasn;t a pleasant experience. The needles and the numbing of the mouth was horrible. It hurt me so bad.
